Bedside Shift Report

We want you to feel comfortable and cared for throughout your stay, so at each nursing shift change—around 7:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m.—your nurse will introduce your new nurse to you. The team will talk about your progress, medicine and tests scheduled for the day, and you can ask questions as well.

Lunch: 11:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.


Weekend Hours:

Lunch: 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.


Crystal River

Breakfast (Weekdays): 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m.

Lunch (Every day): 11:30 a.m. to 1:15 p.m.


Spring Hill

Location: First floor


Hours:

Breakfast (Weekdays): 7:00 a.m. to 9:30 a.m.

Lunch (Weekdays): 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Lunch (Weekends): 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.


All visitors are welcome to dine in the cafeteria.


Fire Safety

We conduct fire and disaster drills from time to time. If you hear an alarm or see flashing lights, stay where you are. In an actual emergency, hospital staff will tell you what to do.


Flowers

Flowers can be purchased at our gift shops. At Tampa General Hospital, flowers delivered by local florists will be brought to patient rooms by a volunteer. Please note that flowers are not allowed in Intensive Care Units.

Hours are subject to change upon volunteers’ availability.


The gift shops’ proceeds fund scholarships for individuals seeking a degree in the medical field. Cash, check and major credit cards are accepted.


Housekeeping Services

A member of our Environmental Services team cleans your room daily. If there is a housekeeping issue in your room, please inform your nurse or dial ext. 6297 (Brooksville), ext. 7045 (Crystal River) or ext. 5577 (Spring Hill).


Internet Access

To stay connected, patients and visitors may use our free wireless network available for wireless-enabled devices, such as a laptop, PDA or smartphone. Webcams are not permitted. Choose: Guest Wireless Access.


Interpreters and Hearing Impaired

Services and devices are available for people who speak a language other than English or are hearing impaired. Contact the house supervisor at ext. 6260 (Brooksville), ext. 3666 (Crystal River) or ext. 7564 (Spring Hill).


Lost and Found

If you have lost an item at Tampa General Hospital, contact the hospital’s main number.


Mail

Mail and packages will be delivered to your room. Mail received after you leave the hospital will be returned to sender. 


Pastoral Care

If you would like to have your religious leader notified of your hospital stay, ask your nurse to request this service. At Brooksville and Spring Hill, patients and their loved ones can call upon our hospital chaplain or a group of volunteer ministers at any time. You also can find a chapel on the first floor at the Brooksville campus and the second floor at the Spring Hill campus.

Lunch: 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

Dinner: 4:15 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.

Patient Pass Code

You received a pass code during admission. This code will serve as your authorization to disclose health information, for purposes such as communicating results, findings and care decisions to your family members and friends who are in possession of the pass code. It is your responsibility to provide the pass code only to the people you wish to have that information disclosed to. Pass codes cannot be used after discharge to obtain test results.


Personal Belongings

Personal care items such as contact lenses, eyeglasses, hearing aids and dentures can be stored in your bedside stand when not in use. Please do not put them on your bed or food tray to help avoid them being lost or damaged. Tampa General Hospital is not responsible for replacing personal belongings as outlined on your admission agreement.


Public Restrooms

For everyone’s health and safety, we ask visitors not to use patient restrooms. Public restrooms are located throughout the hospital. Ask hospital staff to direct you to the nearest one.


Smoking

In consideration of visitors and staff, we are a smoke-free hospital. This includes all electronic smoking devices such as e-cigarettes and vapors. You can request a nicotine replacement alternative from your physician.


Telephone

All patient rooms have phones. To place a local call, dial 9 plus the number.


TV

Please be considerate of others by keeping the volume down and turning off your TV at bedtime. The TV/volume control is located on the pillow speaker, which contains your nurse call button.


Vending Machines

Brooksville and Spring Hill

Located outside the cafeterias and in the ER waiting room.


Crystal River

Located on the first floor outside of the cafeteria entrance, near the ER entrance and next to the ICU/Surgery waiting room.


Your Room

Your room is connected to the nursing station via an intercom system. To call for your nurse, press the NURSE call button located at your bedside.


Your bed is electrically operated and can adjust to various positions. The bed also is equipped with side rails for your protection while you are asleep or under sedation. Please keep the side rails raised at all times while you are in bed.



Your bedside table contains a drawer for storage. If you wear glasses, dentures and/or hearing aids, please keep them in a drawer for protection. Please do not place them on meal trays or in your bed.
